LETTER TO THE TEAM CAPTAINS FROM THE COMMITTEE
06/08/2020
Dear Team Captain,
First of all I hope you, your families and team mates are all safe and well during these testing times.
Our apologies for the delay in contacting you all, we are aware there are many questions to be answered.
These are extraordinary times, however through Zoom the committee have made a start and are taking steps to work out ways to complete the 2019/2020 fixtures, and competitions.
We are also discussing an approximate start date for the upcoming 2020/2021 Winter league.
To start with however I must confirm that sadly Lyn and Jason leaving the League and the committee. Work commitments mean that it is not possible to carry on playing and continue with Committee duties. I’m sure you will all join me in thanking Lyn for all her hard work over the years on and send both Lyn and Jason every best wish for the future.
The Committee have nominated me to take over as temporary Secretary. This can be reviewed at the next AGM. (Date TBC.)
Firstly, the Committee can confirm that there will be no Summer League 2020. This may not come as a surprise to you, but we wanted to confirm this.
Turning our attentions to the Winter 2020/2021 League, we are exploring the possibility of commencing the league around November time. This depends on how the covid-19 situation develops. We will keep you all updated.
The committee have been in contact with as many venues in the league as possible, and it appears that some are accommodating darts matches, with measures in place to enable social distancing and sanitisation facilities provided.
However, we have to consider our players who have been shielding, therefore a November start would hopefully be ample time for all our players to take part in matches safely. We will monitor the situation and keep you all posted.
The Committee feel it only fair that the teams with outstanding matches have the chance to complete the 2019/2020 season where possible.
Would the captains of the teams concerned in Divison 2 please let me know if you would like to play your outstanding fixtures, so that arrangements can be made.
The committee have also decided that the remaining Division 1 match must take place, as this is a title decider. We will consult the team captains to arrange this.
I hope this brings you up to speed, any queries or suggestions are always welcome.
Please pass this onto your players, and venue Landlords / Managers. We will be in contact with them also.
Stay safe and well, and hopefully we will meet again on the oche in the not too distant future.
Kind Regards
Beckie, and the committee.
